Today I'm popping in for a quick post about a dinner party we are hosting tonight. It's easy and I'll tell you why, it's for our dinner club and the hosts only have to make the main course, <b><a href="https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/butter-chicken/" target="_blank">Butter Chicken</a></b> tonight, and the guests bring everything else! Think of it as an elevated pot luck. The appetizer, first course, side veg, naan and pepper butter, rice and dessert will arrive at 6 PM all ready to go! Attached to each dish will be a smiling face who is ready to eat, drink and be merry. We meet once a month, the second Friday, and will have 14 people if everyone is in town. Tonight we will be 12. Last week, when I began to decorate our house for Christmas, I decided to check out what I did last year. I looked at <b><a href="https://www.kristenrettig.com/2022/12/christmas-decorating-with-entertaining.html" target="_blank">this blog post</a></b> and decided I loved it and did my best to recreate it. Have you ever done that? It sure makes decisions easy, especially when you decorate every room in the house. This year I bought a few new decor items, and anything that I left behind in the boxes I decided to donate. My motto for Christmas this year and moving forward is: <i>If I don't use it, pass it on.</i> On that note, I'm dropping off a big bag of Christmas crafts to Carter's classroom today. His teacher loves me! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQATv8Q7Skfw8P0GvJOYp-3-70leG9Dv9tdObQshZoiKcKuTjtwzWcz4IJCI_gNJRfOdPdDLN3TM2XWMFtUzGUZdJbYl1LSd-bf4wgn9AM7GERD5Sg6bAxCiVsky9dyuf793aVsX5EejmAsr4WWnDlrYc-HqXWbiJqo9nviqe0Lecgs7CQtIBAW3Ds6KVu/s4032/IMG_8422.heic" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQATv8Q7Skfw8P0GvJOYp-3-70leG9Dv9tdObQshZoiKcKuTjtwzWcz4IJCI_gNJRfOdPdDLN3TM2XWMFtUzGUZdJbYl1LSd-bf4wgn9AM7GERD5Sg6bAxCiVsky9dyuf793aVsX5EejmAsr4WWnDlrYc-HqXWbiJqo9nviqe0Lecgs7CQtIBAW3Ds6KVu/w480-h640/IMG_8422.heic" width="480"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfOG2gsQfbHL__Xcw4UBBzzhUK_ROM0V1P2U3FU3E77vJ4sBZjWJ5o3hk3Tnv5wn-0QIwPm8JMl8kJg_iM6pn5Au3tpr_IbzlrcLgK_mobzWofOKPIHEnowBmhX8B3IHdhzknA9XAh0emIJcQXG-z6VV1k3Z3cT6FckVUYMmFnHEQ1GLpYbR0MJUE3u0b/s4032/IMG_8421.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfOG2gsQfbHL__Xcw4UBBzzhUK_ROM0V1P2U3FU3E77vJ4sBZjWJ5o3hk3Tnv5wn-0QIwPm8JMl8kJg_iM6pn5Au3tpr_IbzlrcLgK_mobzWofOKPIHEnowBmhX8B3IHdhzknA9XAh0emIJcQXG-z6VV1k3Z3cT6FckVUYMmFnHEQ1GLpYbR0MJUE3u0b/w480-h640/IMG_8421.jpg" width="480"></a></div><br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Fr9sGqaRFSTPq8IjIt9pxCDNJ7ehA_IZ47gEY9XlXYyrwMljxA0Lj_k1gZdNQSfXmBDeqNwGP8z3ojMRs64jNuBRVoYYUOnh3MSjbuolbHl7NKobDnhWPntVLOCYO35r_CurcdFc0T643MMROEYRrgHeV4VtppAYUoD2GqPWJNoCDzkkJp31uRBloGB2/s4032/IMG_8420.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2Fr9sGqaRFSTPq8IjIt9pxCDNJ7ehA_IZ47gEY9XlXYyrwMljxA0Lj_k1gZdNQSfXmBDeqNwGP8z3ojMRs64jNuBRVoYYUOnh3MSjbuolbHl7NKobDnhWPntVLOCYO35r_CurcdFc0T643MMROEYRrgHeV4VtppAYUoD2GqPWJNoCDzkkJp31uRBloGB2/w480-h640/IMG_8420.jpg" width="480"></a></div><span></span><a href="https://www.kristenrettig.com/2023/12/wishing-you-gently-paced-holiday-season.html#more"></a>Kristen Rettighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00176342218828307690noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4518581225469894527.post-14661798518209617762023-11-22T10:58:00.000-08:002023-11-22T12:57:23.150-08:00Happy Thanksgiving<p style="text-align: center;"><br></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCi8JNPeLBTcL4xVt_sPp-3vhMG-Cmk4DqlhvmEXYlku-nwAtODlJJGzCGfFih7azdpwtOVzdCpkomsNNM_HTSaps3pjPFDklzxgFoCSmGC8ygSGlZ31nChCwK8S-QsriZFHnRKVEWEZhIyvLn00g51dRe8OmA2tiKWzdilBA78QnA4RUzaKTpaR9HTBl0/s4032/IMG_8328.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCi8JNPeLBTcL4xVt_sPp-3vhMG-Cmk4DqlhvmEXYlku-nwAtODlJJGzCGfFih7azdpwtOVzdCpkomsNNM_HTSaps3pjPFDklzxgFoCSmGC8ygSGlZ31nChCwK8S-QsriZFHnRKVEWEZhIyvLn00g51dRe8OmA2tiKWzdilBA78QnA4RUzaKTpaR9HTBl0/w480-h640/IMG_8328.jpeg" width="480"></a></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-4lVk9FUhYBCLgDtpRoKpnqqU4wcecevOFS1R4b2i94hkGcBdlU6WFlhInheudOSxZn-Ex2lXkRDK5eIJonLjQGZ5eep5uiSnd6UATES6Ar1vYgGKVaL3c3sPZAJ7uQnuJBLECfICCyYZa8bUCoCsHNiHuzfaDunwtOR592miseElzxuGWGqZewCsZSCM/s4032/IMG_8327.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-4lVk9FUhYBCLgDtpRoKpnqqU4wcecevOFS1R4b2i94hkGcBdlU6WFlhInheudOSxZn-Ex2lXkRDK5eIJonLjQGZ5eep5uiSnd6UATES6Ar1vYgGKVaL3c3sPZAJ7uQnuJBLECfICCyYZa8bUCoCsHNiHuzfaDunwtOR592miseElzxuGWGqZewCsZSCM/w480-h640/IMG_8327.jpeg" width="480"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br></div></div><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">I was hoping to come back today and share my Thanksgiving table, but our plans have changed for tomorrow and I'm instead going to show you my jumbled ornament table, share a fantastic recipe, give some decluttering inspiration, thoughts about careful holiday spending, and more. Last spring I bought 6 new pillows from Etsy without realizing that six months later they would look beautiful with my autumn colors. I also didn't realize that my <a href="https://ravel.me/Kristenlynnea/dcb5" target="_blank"><b>striped leftovers blanket </b></a>would be a natural for the fall living room too. I transformed corks into toadstools and revamped an ugly Target plastic tree stump into a wintry cake stand. I'll use this little tableau on the buffet during fall and winter to hold an appetizer or cookie plate. The tree log is still at my Target in the dollar section, and while you might first overlook it, take a second look! I'm so happy with the way it turned out. And the toadstools are nothing more than champagne and tequila corks. I actually had some empty project baskets in my knitting room! It's hard to imagine, but true, and if you know me, I just can't have that! I love to have a lot of projects on hand so I filled up those empty baskets with some nice new projects. I just counted them up on Ravelry and I have eleven WIPs. Some have only an hour or so of work before they are done and some haven't been started and most likely won't be started anytime soon. Others are long term projects that I work on sporadically, and other projects, one or two of them, are grab and goes that stay in bags by the door, reserved for traveling in the car or knitting at the movies. To help me keep track of all this good stuff, I always take pictures and post my WIPs on Ravelry. I think that is one of the best ways to use Ravelry. I give each project their own basket with needles, yarn and pattern, take photos, and when I add them to Rav I link the pattern and yarn. Read on to see what I have planned for a whole season of knitting!</div><span></span><a href="https://www.kristenrettig.com/2023/09/a-season-of-knitting-and-announcing.html#more"></a>Kristen Rettighttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00176342218828307690noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4518581225469894527.post-64819286630787097992023-09-09T10:10:00.007-07:002023-09-09T10:57:01.265-07:00Pebbles<p style="text-align: center;"> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwKfMaXyEC6ELxN8huV4ZG5VEphh_C3Wrq4JmWvp3OFajsQXfbf8X_UNTpMsf45owhHI6BsPe-3p0gAJLk28XtmeLGAi_ztUlc36MwZwL6_iOWJGeVIG7Q7SetaWL1pLdqoHf2e2-in4Or1Ept4SWUnHoKbKk2NZCt6el9VrzyXTERMkxOF4ZAyeb7Y2eP/s3535/IMG_7575.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3535" data-original-width="2651" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwKfMaXyEC6ELxN8huV4ZG5VEphh_C3Wrq4JmWvp3OFajsQXfbf8X_UNTpMsf45owhHI6BsPe-3p0gAJLk28XtmeLGAi_ztUlc36MwZwL6_iOWJGeVIG7Q7SetaWL1pLdqoHf2e2-in4Or1Ept4SWUnHoKbKk2NZCt6el9VrzyXTERMkxOF4ZAyeb7Y2eP/w480-h640/IMG_7575.JPG" width="480"></a></div><br><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;">Good morning! In today's post I have another finished sweater, a little giveaway, and some awesome book recommendations, so let's get started! The sweater was inspired by Erika Knight's gorgeous Plateau Striped Cardigan. Like most Rowan patterns, it is knit bottom up in pieces. With so many ends to weave in and so many stripes to match up, I thought it best to knit it in one piece, meaning, no seaming and zero stripes to match up and perhaps the best, 2/3 less ends to weave in. I loosely followed the stitch counts from Hannah Fettig's Kaye's Cardigan, all the while trying to follow the stripes and color inspiration from Erika. I'm very happy with it and it is fun to wear, but the yarn--the yarn is a stand out!
